Wines of Earth is one of Belgium’s most unique wine retailers, offering wines from more than 50 countries worldwide, allowing customers to discover wine regions rarely available through traditional wine merchants.
Based in Neufchâteau, Belgium, Wines of Earth is a specialist fine wine and spirits retailer founded in 2015 by Jean-François , a passionate wine enthusiast who built the store around one simple mission: introduce Belgian customers to wines from every corner of the world.
The catalogue at Wines of Earth is unlike anything else in Belgium. Beyond the expected French, Italian, and Spanish selections, the store carries wines from all around the world. Alongside wines, the store offers spirits, sparkling wines, and personal wine tasting experiences (dégustations) for customers who want to go deeper.
The store was built on PrestaShop and had been running successfully for almost 10 years. Over time, it gained many loyal customers, collected valuable order data, and built a large product catalog.
The store was still running on PrestaShop 1.6, an outdated version with no security updates or modern compatibility. To protect ten years of valuable store data and ensure future growth, Jean-François needed a long term PrestaShop migration partner.
Wines of Earth partnered with iCreative Technologies because the existing platform had served the business well for years but had become a genuine constraint.
The migration from PrestaShop 1.6 to PrestaShop 9 was not a simple version upgrade , it was a complex data migration project with a decade of customer and 3,321+ order history at stake and very little room for error.

iCreative Technologies managed the full migration from PrestaShop 1.6 to PrestaShop 9, along with the custom development work needed to bring legacy functionality forward and a redesign of the product experience.

Several business-critical modules from the PrestaShop 1.6 store lacked direct equivalents in PrestaShop 9. To address these gaps, iCreative developed 68+ custom PrestaShop 9-compatible modules, preserving and enhancing essential functionality while avoiding a complete redevelopment of existing modules.
Wines of Earth needed a catalogue structure that could properly showcase wines from dozens of regions and countries.
We designed and built a custom PrestaShop module for this specifically, including a tooltip feature that surfaces selected wine details and custom filtering to help customers browse a genuinely large, varied catalogue more easily.
As a specialist retailers selling rare bottles from more than 50 countries need product pages that reflect that positioning. The PrestaShop 1.6 product pages were functional but basic, they didn’t give the wines, or the story behind them, the presentation a specialist catalogue deserves.
We redesigned the product detail pages on PrestaShop 9 from the ground up.
We streamlined the checkout steps to minimize friction, improve navigation, and make the purchasing process more intuitive for customers. We also focused on improving mobile responsiveness, ensuring a consistent shopping experience across devices, and reducing potential drop-offs during checkout.
